Weekly Devotion—April 2, 2025

By Pastor Chris Simmons

Know always that God’s Grace, Mercy, and Peace are yours through Jesus Christ.

  • Is there anything making you “weary” right now? Busy schedule? An impending task?

  • What do you do for rest? Is there any rest that you have coming up that you’re looking forward to?

Matthew 11:28-30
28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

There is a fine line between working hard and working hard for the wrong reasons. Not allowing a break or Sabbath for yourself is like trying to pull a load you were not made for. Taking the time to have that Sabbath not only helps you work better, it’s an act of faith. A trust in God, that He will provide for you heart, soul, mind, and body.

Prayer

Lord God, we ask you to give us the faith to rest in you. Rather than trying to work beyond you, help us work from what you’ve done for us. We pray this all in your name Jesus. Amen.
