Weekly Devotion—March 5, 2025
By Pastor Chris Simmons
Know always that God’s Grace, Mercy, and Peace are yours through Jesus Christ.
What is something “Urgent and Important” in your life right now?
What are some things that are “important, but not urgent”?
When do you take time to pray about what is “urgent and important” in your life right now?
We live in such a time and place where there is a constant battle for your attention. The neuroscience of marketing has figured out how to pressure you just enough that what they have to sell you is “urgent and important”. Yet there is only so much space for “urgent and important” and everything/one wants it.
1 Peter 5:6-11
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Prayer
Lord God, we look to you as we begin to feel surrounded by pressures, by decisions, by everything declaring it’s urgent and important in our lives… even to the point where we don’t feel in control of it anymore. Please surround us with Your presence and guidance, so that we can lay all our anxieties and burdens before You, knowing that You care for us. Help us to prioritize what truly matters, seeing from Your perspective and through your eyes. We pray this all in your name Jesus, Amen.
